Front EndThe Front End of your site is the place where your visitors and registered users go. It is what the world sees when they go to your website. The front end is launched when they type in:
http://yourdomain.com
Back EndThe Back End of your site is the administration area. It is a completely different interface (lots of menus and options) than the front end. The back end can only be used by a Manager, Administrator or the Web Master (super administrator).
Initial Steps
1. Register on the site
Although you may be a manager or administrator, it is good to see the site as a registered user. Typically managers and above can see additional menu selections, modules, and more features that will help you manage the site. It is useful to see the site just as a registered user will.
To do this, go to your site and click on the register link and go through the process.
Be sure to use a unique email address because most sites will require you to authenticate via email - and your site is usually configured to allow only unique email addresses.
After you register and authenticate, use this user's account to see what other registered users will see.
2. Try editing existing content
3. Create new content items
4. The Back End
In the back end, you have even more control of the site. The back end was used to create your site, install added features, configure the menus, and determine how people will register.
