The purpose of the landing page is to do something
  • read more
  • buy
  • sign up for your newsletter
  • register on the site
  • enter their information
    • email address
    • a comment
    • a rating, etc...
Must haves for an effective landing...


Characteristics of an Effective Landing Page

  • Include testimonials
  • Restate your Ad Message
  • Place critical content "Above the Fold"
  • State the benefit to the visitor and the value received
  • Encourage trust
  • Minimize navigation
  • Give your headings punch
  • KISS concepts - write at a 5 grade level
  • Easy to read short paragraphs
  • Copy should be evocative
  • Lay out is simple
  • Few but relevant, people oriented images
  • Tell the visitor to DO something (e.g. a Call to Action)
  • Minimze their options
  • Make the process simple and make sure it works flawlessly
  • Use Google Analytics to continually test and refine the page and process
